About Me

My photo
I am a third grade teacher in Kentucky. Before I was a classroom teacher, I spent a year doing RTI and Reading Interventions for 3rd-5th grade students. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was 6 years old. I am truly living my dream. I love my life. And yes...my profile picture is me dressed up as Flo for Halloween.

Linking up: Sunday Smorgasbord, July 13, 2014

I love Linky Parties...I would do them everyday if I could!

The Sunday Smorgasbord is new to me since I just returned to blogging and I couldn't be more excited!  So here goes...

After about 3 weeks of cleaning, and painting, and cleaning and organizing...my bedroom is finally finished!  I am so happy with how it all turned out.

My nightstand won't fit in this small space, so I painted an old bar stool.  I also spray painted the lamp base gold.  Not sure if I'm going to keep this aqua lamp shade...thoughts?

Continuing with the gold theme, I painted this canvas and added a Kate Spade quote.  Love her!

I also painted my old dresser table and added polka dots...wait until you see my classroom and you will understand the obsession.  I also ordered the vinyl monogram from Etsy!

Here is my Kate Spade duvet cover.  I got it on clearance at Bed Bath and Beyond months ago, along with 3 pillow.

I wanted orange sheets so I dyed the white ones I already had and sewed on the matching trim.  Not exactly the orange I was hoping for, but it still turned out pretty great.  (PS--I did NOT have a good experience dyeing the sheets with the HE washer...oye!)

I don't have closet doors, so I made a muslin curtain to cover my closet, and once again added the gold polka dots!

I painted the square frames (originally blue) orange and pink.  I painted the keys (originally white) gold to round out the theme.

The finishing touch was this silk flower arrangement using hydrangeas, one of my favs!

That about rounds up my randomness this Sunday!  Thanks for reading and head over to Fabulous in First to link up and read more!

Here I am again...

I have dabbled with blogging on and off for the last few years.  I love reading other teacher's blogs, I love teaching, and I love writing...so it would seem a perfect fit.  So why can't I stick with it?  That is a good question.  I always start out good in the summer and blog several times a week, often even daily.  And then school starts...you know how it is.

I really hope this time is different though, because I truly enjoy writing to you all.  You are out there listening reading, right?  Hello?

My goal is to blend all of my loves together into this new blog, which I have cleverly named, "Coming Up Apples."  Obviously that is a play on the whole teacher and apple stereotype.  However, it also blends with my new Paleo obsession---more on that later!  And of course, like most elementary teachers, I am obsessed with all things crafty and cute.  We shall see how well I can blend these loves together.

So now, a little about me...
1. I am 27 years old.
2. I will begin my 5th year teaching on August 6.  (Yes that is TOO soon!)
3. I have always taught 3rd grade.
4. I was born, raised, and currently live in Kentucky!  Go Big Blue!
5. I am an only child.
6. My dog is like my child!
7. I am obsessed with Project Life!

Stay Tuned...There's a lot more to come!
